The Association of Evangelicals in Africa
A continental fellowship of national evangelical bodies — and the ministry context from which Oncle Libom serves the wider Church.
A fellowship for the African Church
The Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA) was founded in 1966 and brings together national evangelical fellowships from across the continent. With its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, the AEA serves as a regional affiliate of the World Evangelical Alliance, giving the evangelical Church in Africa a shared voice and a shared table for cooperation, encouragement, and witness.
The role of the President
Rev. Dr. Jean Libom Li Likeng was elected President of the AEA in May 2025 at the association's 13th General Assembly in Nairobi, having served as Vice President from 2020 to 2025. He succeeded Rev. Dr. Goodwill Shana of Zimbabwe. The President helps guide the fellowship's shared priorities — always, in his own words, as a work of teamwork rather than a single office: “When everyone contributes, then everyone achieves more.”
Faith, unity, and witness
The AEA exists so that the many national churches of Africa can stand together — encouraging one another, forming leaders, responding to crises, and bearing a common evangelical witness. Oncle Libom shares in that calling with a particular gift: nourishing believers day by day, in French and English, wherever they are.
